I believe that their service was too expensive. My concern about my computer was the error message, no bootable drive found. From what I could tell, they mostly replaced Windows 11 back to Windows 10. This cost me $460. Not being a computer expert I am not certain that I was charged too much, but I believe that was.

Shop is really amazing and can fix pretty unfixable issues! I was not hopeful when our Lenovo Legion Y740 gaming laptop broke, it no longer turned on and when it crashed there was literally smoke and a very strong burning smell. Got the photos from the shop that the motherboard burned up pretty badly. So it is pretty amazing that the technician here actually was able to re-circuit (?) it and got it working! seeing no problems with it so far and got also advice on how to not overheat the laptop as well. Really glad to have found this place and to have checked with them despite thinking laptop was probably not salvageable.

This business has a high rating for a reason. Such kind and hardworking people here. Jane was very sweet and helped get my PC running in just hours! They even cleaned up the wiring in the back. If you have any issues with your computer this is the place you need to go. I just dropped off some cupcakes and an extra tip for this lovely team because not only did they fix my computer in a timely manner, they even stayed a few minutes past closing to make sure the issue I was having (user error) after they fixed my PC wasnt something they messed up on.

Again it was user error on my part, but that didn't stop them from being so kind and willing to help. Hopefully, I don't have any more issues in the future but if I do I know where to go and who to trust with my PC.

Jane is fantastic! I took in my laptop she told me how much it would be to assess the problem and she would give my a call. I barely made it back to my shop and she called with the repair estimate. Within 4 hours she called back and said it's fixed. The best experience I have had with a repair shop. I highly recommend you use them!

I took my Lenovo Thinkpad in to have the keyboard replaced. I didn't mention the ongoing battery problem I'd been having as my research had shown it was most likely due to problems with Windows 10. I was surprised that the job took a full week as these people are generally extremely prompt. When I got my machine back today I discovered the delay was because she spent extra time not only cleaning my computer inside and out but also diagnosing and fixing the battery issue I had given up on ever being rid of.

For the first time in a couple years, I can actually use my laptop UNPLUGGED, which is amazing! This place is worth every penny. If I lived hours away, I would still drive to Hayward to have my computers serviced here.

I will only be coming here from now on for any computer related needs. Jane was the absolute best and a pleasure. I had purchased computer parts for my brother's birthday gift with the idea that we would be building the computer ourselves from home, before surprising him with it. After staying up all night trying to set it up, we still ran into some issues and the computer wouldn't run.

We found Johnson Computers on Yelp, called, and she enthusiastically invited us to come over right away. Shortly after dropping off the computer - they informed us that the PC would need a full rebuild and re-wiring. It was a Saturday and they normally close in the afternoon however, they stayed late until 7pm in order to finish the computer in time for my brother's birthday dinner and surprise.

We were happy to pay extra for the quick turnaround and extra work that was found to be needed. Jane and the technician were both extremely helpful, very quick, executed clean work, gave timely updates via phone call, and it was overall a superb experience. I needed data recovery service after losing a great deal of data from my hard drive. Jane explained that because it was a Mac with an integrated hard drive, it might not be possible to recover the files. She worked her magic and was able to find and restore everything in just one day. I am forever grateful for her skills, and so glad I made the drive all the way to Hayward to work with this fantastic business.

I own an Onkyo receiver, which has a known defect that eventually causes it to not work. To fix it, you need to reflow one particular chip, to fix some cold solder joints. I brought my receiver over the bridge to Johnson because a shop here on the peninsula said they were very good at board-level work. Jane and her husband did a great job of quickly fixing the board.

They charged me a reasonable amount, and so far the stereo has worked perfectly all weekend. I'm very happy I brought it to Johnson to be repaired. I'll come back to them if I ever need board-level repair work done again.

I had taken in my laptop because I accidentally spilled water on the keyboard and it wouldn't turn on. It is one of my favorite style laptops and I was really sad because they don't make the same model anymore. So I looked online to find a repair shop and luckily stumbled onto this place. Just when I thought all hope was gone, they were able to diagnose the issues and gave me an estimate of cost for repairs.

I even had to take a hiatus for several months as I didn't have enough to fund for the repairs and had to move, but they never forgot about my system and kept it safely until I returned. An excellent and friendly service that fixes any problem professionally. I got back my favorite laptop and its running as good as new. I highly recommend this place

Jane saved my life - my Macbook Pro wasn't turning on and I had data I needed out asap. She went to work immediately and was super patient with all my questions and explaining the process. She had the problem diagnosed in a few minutes and in just a few hours fixed the motherboard and had my laptop working with all its data intact. Quite reasonable pricing as well. Appreciate her working about my schedule and highly recommend!

I bought a high end gaming PC, and I was getting random freezes, I was going insane and was trying to figure it out on my own and some research online, after weeks of debating if I should take it to the shop I finally went here, I called up Jane to see what the possibility of the problem could be and she was giving me answers on the phone before I take it to her shop and get it done, I was sick of trying to fix my pc since it costed almost 3k, Jane checked it out, I told her she can take her time to see what the issue was, and within a day she saw that there was a corrosion on the motherboard, I guess a liquid got into the motherboard I have no idea how, Jane gave me a decent price I was willing to pay, and she got it done! So far no issues in my PC if there is I will update my review. Thanks Jane!

Johnson computers helped resolve two major issues with my ASUS ROG gaming laptop. The first was a very serious one. My laptop had a ripped off power connector and they fixed it the next day. I couldn't find any computer repair shop that could fix this serious problem, but Johnson Computers did and they did it perfectly. My laptop was able to charge once again.

The second was changing the battery for my laptop. My laptop was suffering from battery/charging issues (charging was stuck at 0%). Jane Xiang and Johnson were very easy to communicate with and were very thorough in giving me a list of options of how they would carry out the repairs. I went with me buying a new battery in eBay and having them install it.

I brought in my laptop the day after the delivery and they did the rest. After 2 hours, my laptop was like brand new, charging normally again. I would recommend Johnson Computers to anyone with any computer/laptop repairs that seem "unfixable" by mainstream repair places like Geek Squad. Jane and Johnson dive DEEP into the problems and fix them flawlessly.

No other repair place does the work they do. Without their help I would've spent $2000 buying a new laptop. I saved about $1550. I would give 10 stars if possible. Just outstanding work. ***The photo attached below was the once ripped power connector now fully repaired (circled in yellow).

I went over and look for a computer repair wherein they can fix my dilema. I have an almost full c-drive and would like tot transfer to a bigger and fastwr asd. I look around and I was promised 4-5 days work and quite not very helpful ober the phone. I called Johnson Computer and spoke with Jane. She was practical and quite an expert with compiter issues.

She told it will be done in one day and wxplained to me the reason for that. To make long story short, she's able to do what she promised and I went home happy with the service. I highly recommend her shop.

Jane, repaired my HP Spectre X360 which was failing to charge. She identified and fixed the fault as a faulty capacitor component. Other places (including UBreakfix) could not repair and wanted to replace the entire motherboard with a new one at $400. For a 5 year old laptop, I did not consider this cost effective to spend that much money, so I was very happy that she could repair it. however the repair came in at over $300. so I would say it's not exceptional value.

Second time getting work done here. Took my laptop in to have the keyboard and battery replaced. The price was affordable and Jane did a fantastic job, the laptop is as good as new. Customer service was excellent too. I had to pick up the laptop and I was running behind, past their closing time, and they waited patiently for me to get there. Will definitely be using them again

Fast, reliable and honest about their services. They're skilled and one of very few specialists in the computer repair who know their stuff well. My repair was fast, prompt and yet at a reasonable price. I received honest and open feeds about my repair options. I would highly appreciate and recommend Johnson computers.

This is the ONLY place in Bay area/Silicon Valley that actually tests and replaces motherboard components as opposed to replacing the entire motherboard. Fixed my annoying 2016 Razer Blade no backlight problem (capacitors) in 1 business day for a reasonable amount - all things considered. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be coming back for all of my electronics issues.

Super awesome people. So this company is a little mom and pop shop but they got what you need. They helped me find the problem with my pc (failed hard drive) and they double checked it with their own drives to test out the rest of my pc for me. I'm not saying you can't do this at home, but you need lots of equipment that you probably don't have.

After we found a problem we couldn't look at due to a lack of equipment, they went out and bought it! Very kind folks who deserve more than what they ask for. I wish this company well.

My laptop broke. I had no clue what was wrong but it wouldn't start. I took it Johnson's Computer. They were friendly and helpful as soon as I walked into the door. I was given a price for the diagnostics which was reasonable. I was surprised to get a call just a couple of later telling me the problem, the solution, and the price. I was happy that I was able to pick up my fixed computer the same day. That was the best part, fast service. I will definitely use them again.

Most impressive repair I had for years. I thought my computer is not worth repairing because the problem seem so complicate. My guess was confirmed by Jane and I was shocked they went so deep into the system to find the cause. Digging a shorted capacitor among hundreds of components is not a trivial task especially mine is a very complex mobile workstation. I'm so glad I went to Johnson computer for my repair. I broke my flash drive that had tons of information for my work. I brought it here and Jane was so helpful. She was sure she would be able to fix it so that all my files would be saved. Sure enough they got my information back to me in a timely manner. Instead of my thinking I was doomed, all my information was retrieved. Thank you so much.

I had recently broken a flash drive into pieces. This was important to me because it contained every work file I had created in the past 14 years. I dropped it off here and 24 hours + $300.00 later all my data was recovered to another flash drive. A bit on the high end, but if it's important to you this is the place to do the job.

It's rare for me to post on Yelp as I'm frequently a user who only uses it for its recommendations. However, the service I received from this small, family-owned business deserves all the compliments and more for their willingness to help and professionalism. That morning, I found myself in the unfortunate situation of a cheap piece of equipment lodged into one of my usb ports; a pairing receiver, used by wireless mice, was unable to be removed from the port.

Thinking it was a simple task, around 5:30 pm I tried to remove it on my own. The receiver snapped, and now I was in a panic. I called the shop around 6:00 pm and they were able to receive me even though their store hours closed in the next half-hour (6:30 pm). I rushed over to the store and told them the situation. While the technician worked on dislodging the item, I had a pleasant conversation with one of the owners at their desk.

Even after their store's closing hours, the technician decided to stay longer. Eventually, he was able to isolate the associated parts, remove the lodged item, AND preserve the integrity of the usb port. This shop has my future business as they exemplify the meaning of a small-business: local hospitality while being experts at their craft. If I need professional repairs on my future devices, it is my hope that they'll always be available to lend a helping hand.

This is the second time Jane came through for me. I needed a MacBook and iMac repaired quickly for my business. I am grateful she remembered me and made it affordable. Thank you, MattG

Jane is very friendly, knowledgeable professional. My Macbook pro screen had vertical lines covering 30% of the screen. She right away said the LCD screen had to be replaced and after checking online she found a used one for $500. She also gave me the option to buy my own and that she can replace it. I let her order it and once it arrived she replaced it on the same day. Her labor fees were fair and would definitely be going there again for any future issues. Thanks for the great service.

My daughter accidentally knocked over my 27 iMac and the screen came off. This pulled the ribbon cable attachment off the circuit board making the repair almost impossible. I was prepared to replace the computer but first checked with Jane and she felt confident that they could repair it. In less than 24 hrs. it was fixed and working perfectly. Thank you Jane for getting the job done so quickly and saving me from having to purchase a new one!
