Our company was founded in 1939 by Ralph Archnial, and was originally known as Alameda Typewriter. The company is currently owned and operated by Michael Woods, who took over in 1979. Alameda Business Machines continued to sell and service typewriters. They then expanded into fax machines, copiers, printers, and word processors. Once the personal computer industry began to bloom in the early eighties, Alameda Business Machines then took an active roll in personal computers. Alameda Business Machines started building and servicing IBM PC's and IBM clones, while continuing to sell, repair, and service all types of office equipment on the retail and commercial levels. Since then, the company is continuing to stay ahead of the competition by offering quality products and services at very competitive prices. Starting in 1994, Alameda Business Machines started providing networking options for Microsoft Windows, as well as all the necessary cables and software support.

I am beyond impressed by the service provided at ABM Computer's. Jessie is EXTREMELY HELPFUL! Prior to me even stepping into the store, Jessie took time to talk with me and my daughter about the issue she was experiencing with her gaming computer. Had a very nice experience with Jesse (just found out he's the owner). He was very kind and knowledgeable in the craft. He had the intellect of one of those white computer nerd kids in school but the build of an Hvac worker. He was amiable and had an easy going aura. It was the kind of gentle aura that serial killers give off to fool people with. Now i'm not saying he gives off serial killer vibes but he is very calming and intellectual as one. Also the girl in the front desk was chill ig.

Seems like a decent place but needs a little work on the logistics. Went in to purchase a graphics card. The employee looked it up and it showed as available when he looked it up. It was at the new location so he called to confirm its availability before I went there. Unfortunately it wasn't so he saved me a wasted trip, but it was slightly annoying initially hearing the card was available, then not. Especially since these cards are hard to come by. Just hope their computer repair services are a bit more organized.

The owner, Jesse Nelson, is professional, extremely knowledgeable and so helpful. He works as our IT contractor for our company and he is the best I've ever worked with in my decades long experience. Not only the best but the best by a long shot. You won't have a problem he can't fix and he is super nice and accommodating. I'd give him a hundred stars if I could.

These guys are top notch - like having your own private IT department. I had the nightmare happen where I lost a week's worth of work when my laptop crashed. Kyiomi spent an hour trying to recover my documents for me (it was a lost cause, but at least I knew an expert tried everything). They wouldn't charge me for the time even after I insisted. I then brought my laptops in for complete tune-ups and cleaning - saved a ton of time by not having to send my Macs into Apple repair.

Just had such a positive customer service experience! I bought a laptop from them in December for my son and it started having problems a few months later so I brought it in. They offered to replace the computer and did so in a very timely manner. We are so happy with the new computer and really appreciated that the staff just offered to replace the computer without me having to ask or pay anything for the maintenance/ service. I will recommend this shop to everyone. Thank you so much!

I came in to ask if they happened to have a cpu heatsink mount and misheard the older gentleman talking over the phone, he hung up and muttered "god damn chinks" and turned around to see me (I am Asian too). The young man working behind the counter on a computer realized I had overheard and awkwardly turned back to work on a computer. I asked if he had any spare heat sink mounts for my cpu and he replied very condescendingly if I even knew what my motherboard socket was.
I didnt know at the time which socket it was but I told him it was an intel 6700k and he said apparently he needs the socket number or he couldnt help me. I didnt really want to deal with the rude man so I just went home. I decided to google it up when I got home and it took less than 10 seconds to find out the socket number was LGA 1151. Absolutely outstanding customer service :) Just to clarify this happened in 2018-2019 I just never thought to put down a yelp review until now.

I highly recommend ABM Computers! My Windows 7 OS decided to just not start one morning, sending my laptop into an endless loop. I had a client meeting coming up the next day and was in a bit of a panic. I dropped in to ABM right when they opened. Though Michael was clearly busy on another project, he jumped right on it and had me fixed up in a few hours with a clean install of 10 and advice on how to backup data in case of a future crash. Thanks again ABM Team!

This is a go to place for computer repairs! I am big in customer service and this place gets a 10/10! The woman helping me was very sweet, informative and helped me understand a lot of things I was not familiar with! I love the fact that they give you status updates and my laptop was as good as new! Upon arrival you can tell they value their customers and really want to help and let you know step by step on the process and what to expect! I highly recommend this business!

ABM Computers did not fix my Lenovo Thinkpad. I took it in due to overheating, a malfunctioning touchpad and fingerprint scanner as well as regular crashing. Whenever I booted it, it would power down after a few seconds. I gave it to them with a detailed report on what was happening and a couple days later, I received the diagnosis: all they had done was run a System File Check (SFC) and then written that they had successfully booted it 25 times.
As for the touchpad and fingerprint scanner issue, they told me to just use an external mouse. Right after I picked it up from the shop, it booted, I thought I was in the clear until it lost its power once again. A couple days later, I cracked the computer open and managed to reconnect the touchpad and fingerprint scanner to the motherboard. Oh, did I mention I'm not even a teen?
The crashing had not ceased. I have tried to completely format my drive, load an ISO, or install a different Windows OS but nothing has worked. I really believe that ABM did not do anything with the hardware which I beleive was the problem in the first place. In short, ABM Computers failed to repair my device. This doesn't mean that they are not good custom PC builders or part sellers, or even malware removers. I simply want to put my experience out there. Thanks for trying though!

Wanted to say thank you to Michael and the team at ABM Comp. I brought my laptop in to remove and update to Windows 10. They were: - fast (came in on Friday morning and was done before lunch) - excellent customer service and communication on progress along the way - knowledgeable in how to get my computer back up and running All around friendly team!
Will be coming back to ABM Computers when it is time for next laptop purchase. I highly recommend them if you need to service your machines or in need of recommendations for new ones.

I appreciate the good service and communication when dealing with ABM Computers. I most appreciate their patience with all my questions, even the most basic, and their willingness to offer ideas and opinions without being pushy. Most recently they worked on my Acer laptop (purchased from ABM in 2011). I also purchased a refurbished IMAC all in one that I am very happy with. It is great to have a local business that I am so satisfied with.

My older desktop power unit went out with a bang! I had other problems with Windows 10 prior to that so I took it to ABM because I was pretty sure I would never figure it all out. They replaced the power unit, reset the bios and re-attached the fan to the video card. They were quick, affordable and did a great job. I will return and highly recommend them.

I always get so overwhelmed when I go into the big stores like Staples or Office Max. So when I came across Alameda Business Machines it was a nice change. The boutique atmosphere was exactly what I had been looking for. They had everything the big stores offered but I wasn't overwhelmed. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to my needs. I was looking for a new computer to help me become more advance in my graphic design and I was so pleased with what I was shown.
I left ABM feeling satisfied, happy and excited about my new computer. If you want to avoid all the hassle and chaos of a big company I defiantly recommend checking out Alameda Business Machines.

Walked in a month ago to ask a question about how to open a laptop to clean the dust out of it (the fan is failing and I couldn't get to the fan without ripping my entire laptop apart and I'd rather not do it myself). The guy, who is this tall old white dude, had such a condescending tone with me and asked me how I knew my fan was dusty. Like, what?
Why would you ask that? I told him "well there's a ton of dust inside the computer?". His tone made me feel belittled, as if to him I didn't know anything about computers (I definitely know about computers) He just wasn't friendly at all, and even my friends who were with me at the time thought he was kind of a jerk. He didn't help me.
Instead he told me to go to the store and buy those dumb aerosol cans. I told him that didn't remove all the dust that was in there (the dust accumulated and was clogging the fan enough to keep it from moving) but at that point I was tired by his shit attitude and left. I just wouldn't come here. I came in with a very optimistic attitude after having breakfast with friends and he killed my mood with his arrogance.

My family and I have been going to Alameda Business Machines for a very long time. They have always been extremely friendly and professional. Whenever I have a sick computer, they are who I go to. They fix the problem and return it to me with a few days. My mother is the one who suggested Michael to me first and I'm glad she did! He and Jesse never seize to amaze me! GREAT JOB!!!

I've been using ABM Computers for over 20 years they've helped me get out of jams many times, they even donated a computer to help me assist a needy family. Once I was in South America at a surgical conference and had trouble downloading my speech, they came to my rescue within minutes. These people are simply the best.
